Why NOW is the best time to book your holidays to Greece and Europe
I believe that booking your holidays now, is probably the smartest thing you can do even if you are not sure about dates or what the Covid-19 restrictions will be in the next months
Hi there!
Not sure if you heard the news, but Greece has just re-opened restaurants, cafes and other public places, in time for the tourist season, which usually starts in May every year.
Not everything is fine in Greece in terms of Covid-19 cases but vaccinations are still progressing steadily (but slowly to be honest…).
But…
I strongly believe there is now an excellent opportunity to book your holidays for this year even if you are unsure of what the future would be.
I am explaining why:
Prices are now probably at their lowest, as travel companies, agencies and flight companies need to get some cash asap!
It is probably the only time in our lifetimes that we are able to book something and get free cancellation or changeable dates without any additional costs! I doubt this will ever happen again to be honest…
Greece has already declared some (less known though) islands as Covid-free and there is a clear direction from the greek government to give vaccination priority to the islands, as this will allow the local economies that are tourism-dependant to open with less retrictions.
To help you out, I have prepared a list of the Best Hotels (in my opinion) for my favourite greek islands (another list for the less known greek islands will follow soon…)
You can book these hotels directly on Booking.com which in my opinion, is by far the best website to book any hotel, villa or airbnb-style house in Greece (much better than Airbnb which will end up more expensive and would have additional fees for cleaning etc).
So, wihout further ado, these are my favourite hotels on every greek island (and they are usually the overall most top-rated hotels as well):
SANTORINI: Cosmopolitan Hotel
One of the most luxurious hotels in Santorini with amazing views and close to all shops and main restaurants of the island at the capital town Fira
MYKONOS: Bill & Coo Hotel
This is a truly 5-star hotel with one of the best restaurants of Mykonos and impeccable design.
CRETE: Elounda Beach Hotel
Undoubtedly one of the best hotels in Greece. You will be having the Aegean sea on your balcony and a 5-star service 24/7. This is one of the best hotels in Europe!
CORFU: Imperial Grecotel Resort
One of the most impressive and largest hotels in Greece at an amazing location with lots of swimming pools and incredible 5 star services (including one of the best breakfast buffets in Greece…)
ZANTE: Olea Suites & Hotel
A unique quiet hotel with impressive architecture and amazing views. The private suites with the pools are some of the best in Greece and the hotel in general is ideal for relaxing and calming holidays.
KEFALONIA: F Zeen
Exceptional service, amazing views and a stunning swimming pool at Lourdata. A very relaxing and calming environment (mostly for adults though) but overall an impressive brand new hotel with very caring stuff.
RHODES: Mitsis Alil Hotel & Resort
Possibly one of the best all-inclusive hotels in Greece and in Rhodes. Exceptional 5 star service at a hotel that has everything…sushi restaurants, greek restaurants, spa, massive buffets and even a pizza oven on its private beach!
I do have even more suggestions for many more greek islands such as Ios, Paros, Naxos, Skiathos, Milos (my personal favourite and definitely a non popular one) and even the very small ones, such as Koufonisia or even Amorgos island.
Chances are you won’t even have the time to visit more than 1-2 greek islands but the great thing is that you will definitely ask for more after your first visit!
You may have a great opportunity not to break the bank this year and have amazing holidays.
Grab it till you can!
BUT…It goes without saying that you have to be extremely careful wherever you travel and follow the Covid-19 protocols, BY THE BOOK.
Greece has gone through one of the strictest lockdowns in the world and we should not forget that the pandemic is still not over.
Feel free to ask me any questions you may have for hotels, flights and ferries in the comments section hereby and I would be happy to respond!
Stay safe!
Pavlos
